Week 2 - New ideas, new things to learn, new knowledge

Here I am, in the middle of the second week in this course. A lot to learn, a lot to discover, to read (and to write), but everything is worth doing it.

I have described one of my classes the way it is now - quite a long description, but I wanted to give my fellows a clear idea about those students, about the classroom and the school in general. I like my school and I am very happy as yesterday I got some great news regarding my school: it is the second time my school received the distinction of "European School". The first distinction of this type was obtained in 2007 and it is available till 2010. Now, this distinction is available till 2013. It got this distinction as in my school we developed and initiated many international school projects (as I am the coordinator of these projects, the distinction means even more to me.)

At present, till the end of the week I am away from home (about 450 km, in the middle of the mountains). I am in a little town, named Sinaia (nicknamed The pearl of the Carpathians - our mountains). Well, don't imagine, please that I am here to relax. No way. I was elected to attend a course (organized  by the Ministry of Education in Romania) about developing life-skills for students. Very interesting, quite new, I mean. I found a very interesting thing I want to share with you (I am sure we can take advantage of it at a certain moment) - it's the ITI (Integrated Thematic Instruction) model, initiated by Susanna Kovalik.

In the meantime, I struggle to keep up with the work on this course. I am reading for more detail about the ABCD model, as it is something brand new for me. At the same time, I have already tested some of the search engines suggested and I am amazed.

That's all for now. I will write again as soon as I have a clear image about what I am working on now.

  1. Hello, Nadinne again!
I see you are the most creative and productive person here. Instead of one post per week, you have already posted two and it is not the end...
It's great to hear that you are in the CArpathian mountains now (but I am not sure that they are only yours!!!)

And congratulation about your distinction "European school", I would like to know more about this, such as Ukraine is also the European country, but not in the EU yet... Members of my school European club believe that it will happen in 2015.
By the way, do you have the European club at your school???? Write me, my students and I are waiting for your answer.

  2. Hello, Ruslana

I don't know what to tell you about the European School. I think it is an idea belonging to the Romanian Ministry of Education, I am not sure it belongs to the EU or to some other organization. It has been working in Romania for 6 years now, but I don't know what to tell you more about it. I will try to find some information about this, and as soon as I have t, I let you know.

In my school we don't have an European Club. We have a club where we implement projects (European and international), and an NGO.

    That's all

  3. Hello, Nadinne,

Thanks for your comment on my blog-highly appreciated. I joined the course late and I was really scared to see the list of things to do. I am almost settled now and I am enjoying it thoroughly. The course has been designed so well and I agree we are only in the middle of the second week and lot of learning and experiences. I like the design or your blog-specially the reading list on the right side.

Congrates that your school has received distinction for the second time. Wonderful. And the credit for this award goes to your efforts.

I am from Hunza which in the North of Pakistan which is a popular tourist spot for mountain climbing, trekking, sight seeing and lot more. The valley is surrounded by the world highest peaks. All the three mountain ranges Karkuourm, Himalaya, and Hindukush meet at a point here in my area.

Keep up the good work. Good luck with assignments and activities in this course.

    Best wishes

    Piar
